As well as confirming that the Xperia Play released by Sony Ericsson last year will not be updated to Android 4.0, Sony also announced the time line for the ICS update roll out for the other 2011 Xperia handsets, as well as the NXT handsets announced this year.

Sony have already released Android 4.0.3 for the Arc S, Ray and Neo V but, will be updating it to Android 4.0.4. The Android update 4.0.4 will begin rolling out next week for 2011 Xperia handsets – Xperia Arc, Xperia Neo, Xperia Pro, Xperia Mini, Xperia Mini Pro, Xperia Active and the Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman.

With regards to the NXT Xperia phones released this year from Sony, the Xperia S will be the first of the handsets to receive the Android Ice Cream Sandwich update and will begin rolling out from the end of June. Sony will then begin rolling out the update for the Xperia P. The Xperia U will be the last of the handsets to receive the update, with a rollout being later in Q3. More specific dates for the Xperia P and Xperia U Android 4.0 roll out weren’t given but, the end of Q3 takes us to September and Sony should have begun rolling out the Xperia U update before then.
